So I am looking at this set to go with the tires I am most likely going to get tomorrow.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Set-of-2-New-L ... %7Ciid%3A1

The used pair I am looking at are basically brand new but only 2 of them.

Thanks Fish. I need to do some cleaning and painting of the rims to make it look a little better but definitely have to get used to the wheels. Was so used to those beetle wheels.

So I was talking to Earl about the wheels and he brought up a question I have no idea what the answer is. I looked all over theSamba gallery and forum to find the answer and am still confused.

So if you notice my bus has chrome caps (wrong year but that's besides the point) but Earl said that it should have commercial caps on it since it's not a deluxe and the front emblem is painted. I looked on that Samba and found pictures of people pulling SO42s out of the woods after sitting for decades that some have chrome caps and others have commercial caps.

So does anyone know if they should have chrome or commercial caps?

If you really want to be correct, you should have left the 14" wheels!
Just do what you want, Chrome the commercial caps!!

Yes I know I should put 14' wheels on it but the 15" wheels look so much better.

I figured I might just paint my chrome caps since they are rusty. I can sand them down and paint them.

I know early Westies usually came with chromed caps, my '58 did, it will say on your Mcode. Chris stop 15 shaming William! Just be glad he didn't dump it on earlies.

dumped on earlies.... :-k :-k :-k

I am noticing more that the later ones could have come with commercial caps.

Well you have an Mcode plate, right? Doesn't it specify chrome caps? F not then it isn't commercials.

I don't know what it's "supposed" to have, but I think it would look cool with commercial caps.

I might find some crappy small logo caps to paint. Anyone got any that they want to sell?

Yesterday I replaced the cut off stock exhaust damper with a new one so now the tip comes out from under the bumper. The cut off one came from the single cab and I had to cut it so I could get that extra 2" clearance

Was going to tackle the heater issue (not lined up) but decided I will tackle that at the end of summer.

The single cab was “supposed” to come with commercial caps. When I got it it had an assortment of rusty chrome aftermarket ones. I sanded down the chrome and rust, cleaned them up and spray canned them with some color that is supposed to be correct. They actually came out not bad.
Now if only the single cab was being used, as they are “supposed to”.
