 I also noticed that when I pulled into the side of my house I had to rev my engine quite a bit more than usual to get over the curb.
The sloppy shifting issue went away, however, when I went for a test drive the clutch had major slippage! ARRGH!!

So now I have to pull the engine AGAIN, did I say AGAIN!!! double Arrgh!!
The clutch is new with less than 1250 miles.
No short cuts for me anymore!!!
I'm getting to old for this!

Why pull the motor? Did you already try re-adjusting the cable?

Yes.. to no avail! Something is wrong somewhere!
Your clutch doesn't just go out, (well a cable could break) or the cable just doesn't all of a sudden need to be adjusted.
There is usually some warning signs. When you drive your bus all the time you know when something isn't right!

Had some free time so I took the time to install all the LED lights and change the headlights out to 12v lights. So now I just need the LED tail lights and a battery and I am good to go. Oh I still have to install the alternator, coil, relays, and dizzy. Another question on the 12v conversion... do I need to find a 12v hazard light? Currently flashes with 6v but wondering if there is a way to change the light or if I have to find a 12v light.

Another thing I started to do is to remove the jalousie window so I can replace the broken tabs for holding the glass. I removed all the screws on the outside, the screen, the curtains, and the inside frame that covers the extra open space but the window does not come out. There are some small screws on the inside that look like they could possibly be holding the frame in place. Is this true? I do not want to remove the screws if I don't need to.

Thank you very much!!

So installed the motor yesterday after installing a new clutch disc, pressure plate and throw out bearing.
Problem solved, bus shifted well and no more gear grinding!!

QUESTION..
The heat divert-er that little knob that moves the flap to have the heat at defrost or at your feet is not working.
I believe the flap in the tube may have come loose, as it is very sloppy.
Anyone have any ideas for the repair??

.

yesterday I was able to get the Jalousie window out so I started to work on taking it apart so that I can replace the end tabs for the window slat. I guess have to remove all the rivets in order to get the one replaced?

Next time you visit the Garaj Mahal take a look at mine, which is currently out of the bus, as it may give you an idea on what to do. :-k

so got a call from my wife that her van is once again not shifting so i took it to the shop. I then had to put the camper back together so I could drive it. I have the jalousie window torn apart and had it half way converted to 12v. So I swapped out 2 LED 12v idiot lights with the 6v lights. To my amazement, the 6v powers the 12 lights except for the idiot lights which is why i swapped them back.

I took my daughter to her field hockey game and on the way home after the game, the accelerator cable broke. I was in a hurry to get home so I did a quick fix enough to get me home. Once home I pulled the new cable out of the parts bin and installed it. On the road again I go.

Last night I changed everything back to LED and 12v. Only thing left to change out is the alternator, coil, and dizzy. Man are those LED tail lights nice and bright.

Found out that I swapped out the head lamp relay for a flasher ](*,) so every time I turned on the headlights, they flashed  So I put the 6v head lamp relay in and it works fine. I guess it is another item that does not need to be changed out?

Also got my new alternator set up so I just need to pull the engine and swap that out.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe there is a difference in the dizzy, as in a 6v or 12v!

Drove Craig from LA to BFE, way out in east El Cajon to purchase some tent poles to a gay tent!

While I was there I asked the guy if he had any 15" bus wheels.
At first he said no, then as we were looking around he found one on the front of a 72+ year bus.
The front had been switched to wide 5. Asked how much, he said $30, I said would you take $25.
Bam!! got a nice 15" bus wheel with the clips for 25 bucks! Me happy!

Next project, check front brakes!! The front left just started pulling and squeaking.
Not unexpected as they are over due for some work.
