Extremely HEAVY load! It can handle it, though!

Update on the Plump Truck's "not so gutless" wonder, a.k.a. the 1600 I got from Russell. I've had issues with this motor on and off for quite some time. Though it starts right away and ran "okay", it would loose power on the mere sight of a hill. It would also run "good" but for about 10 miles, then approaching 20 miles it would start loosing it big time! It felt like a lack of fuel symptom so I would take the carbs apart, clean them up, put them back in, but it would do the same again. Even went as far as ordering and installing rebuilt kits for the Dellortos which I knew they needed, but to no avail! Finally, though my friend Crazy John had told me a few times already to check on the fuel pump, I installed the spare electric one. Well, how about THAT!!! After dialing the carbs last week, it passed both the 10 and the 20 mile tests going to and from work!

However, the BIG test was yesterday going to the HVWs Drag Day. Plump Truck loaded and ready to go, we took off about 4am and headed north. The 10 mile test went well, then the 20, 30, 40, ... BIG hurdle at the 100 mile test even!!!! Got us up there without as much as a hiccup and it did as well on the way home, all the while averging some 63 mph even on the uphills!!! \:D/

This is just a "stock" 1600 except for the Dellortos and 1.4 rockers. Needless to say, I am extemely happy with the Plump Truck now and its great performance!

His floors are nice. I am welding in patches in my '62 and the shape is dead on and the thickness good. You better have a lot of drill bits.

It surely isn't a project I am looking forward to do, but the need is so dire that I just had to. :-s

How are you going to clamp them down when you do the plug welds? You need a big fat guy or two to stand on them while you weld

I will offer to stand on them if I have something cold and refreshing to drink like Pacifico beer.

You should probably supply us with 22oz beers just to make sure it comes out good. I wouldn't want some 12oz brew causing your floor to warp.

don't forget to put all the beer in a cooler and sit it on top of the bed. Wouldn't want to mess it up when we get refills right?
