I will look upon the plump truck with a new level of respect knowing the painstaking treatment you've performed on it. Very impressive, Ivan.

As much as I like welding, this job was a royal pain in the bongos! :x

Still have to do some more welding at the bottom of the bulkhead as well as grind down some of the nastiest welds. Also "crimp" the whole edge around the bed. Then, it's off to the rhinoliner or some such.

It has currently bumped the Dormy out of its place in the garage! After all that work, I don't want a drop of water to get in there before getting it lined! So, if and only IF it ain't gonna rain tomorrow, I may drive it to the meeting! :???:

Well, they were all bent but I straighten them out as much as possible before the coating and of course, some spots didn't get the powder.

Will try to "touch them up" again today! :???:

Have you seen this tool before? http://www.eastwood.com/skin-zipper-air ... -tool.html
Looks like it might work well on crimping the edges of the bed...

Saw the new bed at Marie C's last night. A tremendous amount of work and it looks great.

And then some!

Took yesterday off "work" so I could put some real work into the truck. The engine in the Bug is in bad need of an overhaul so I want to get the Plump Truck back on the road. Anyway, here's some pix of the progress:

Made a "crimping tool" out of this! Grounded off the sharp edges and it worked well!

Seam-welded the groove across and used "seam seal" on the long one as well as the "opening" where the bed meets the forward bulkhead.

Next is the Herculiner on the bed, reinstall the gates and start daily driving it! \:D/

Aren't you going to grind those plug welds down first??

Nope! Spent the day Saturday grinding away the welded seams and all spots around the edges so they would not interfere with the gates. My freaken hands are numb! NO MORE GRINDING!!! :x

Anyway, the Herculiner is a rubberized textured compound which will cover them fairly well. If you've seen the top of my trailer then you'll know how it'll look. Plus I want to double coat it!
